Scenarios are circulating around Hollywood. And when one scenario is bought by a studio, most likely the other studio has already read it.
I think this has been going on for sometime now, to lower the revenue of their opponents: Releasing movies with similar content at about the same time.
Aeon Flux –> Ultraviolet
That’s how it all started for me – it was too obvious to miss that… Then I noticed more “coincidences” in similar movies released at about the same time…
Ocean’s Eleven –> Italian Job
The Zodiac –> Curse of the Zodiac
Lost in Space –> Event Horizon
Basic Instinct –> Jade
The Prestige –> The Illusionist
Most Wanted –> Eagle Eye
This is especially obvious between animation studios
Finding Nemo –> Shark Tale
Madagaskar –> The Wild
The funny part here is that you can distinguish what movie had the original scenario and what is chasing after the buck. Weird… {this is left foe the reader to figure out}
You can’t always say that the first movie that is released is the one with the original idea because the opposing studio may make a quick release of a lower quality movie just to hit the box office first.
