The Matrix Ideology

{WIP excerpt}

WB tried to transform the Matrix from a smart and rebelling piece of art to a franchise, a trademark, a trend. Understandable, as film studios want to create products that can and will generate immediate income to make their business viable.

In part III:
- The Hindu man says (beginning at the train station):
I love my daughter very much. I find it to be the most beautiful thing I have ever seen.
But from where we are from that that is not enough.
Every program that is created must have a purpose – if it does not it is deleted.

- The Human Agent (towards the end, after he blinds Neo) says:
You’re a symbol for all of your kind Mr.Anderson.
Helpless. Pathetic. Just waiting to be put out of your misery.

- The Architect talks to the oracle at the end:
Oracle: What about the others?
Architect: What others?
Oracle: The ones that want out.
Architect: Obviously they will be freed.
Oracle: I have your word?
Architect: What do you think I am? Human?

Analysis:
The high tech and privileged people leave on the surface (the machine wolrd) while the multicultural minorities live underground, hidden and perused (the zion people).

The matrix can be compared to what TV does to today’s people – paralyzing them by taking their thought off to something entertaining.
